I have this same sling but from the late 60's or early 70's I believe. I inherited it from my dad. The old sling is 1" wide but Boyt no longer makes it. It was a bit dry when I got it but a little clenzoil brought it back to life. I have been using this sling for almost 10 years now and its still going strong! I have tried many slings but I love the Boyt and how you can adjust it almost instantly. Makes it great on my shotgun as I can quickly draw it up in the heavy brush and extend it when needed. I like that they are slim and trim no excess material in the way. I use it on my rifles too. I purchased a new one from MPC only because I don't want dads 50 year old sling going in the duck blind. This new one is also nice. The leather is not quite as soft but I suspect it just needs 50 years to break in. The only thing I don't like is its 3" shorter than the old one. I'm 6'1" 190 lbs and it's just enough to sling the gun across my back with a full upland vest on. If you are real heavy it may only work on your shoulder. I have to be able to sling over my back at times when hunting Chukar and all hands are needed for climbing.
